JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: ASSISTANT
DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director
of Curriculum and Instruction
FLSA/CONTRACT STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 261 Days
SALARY: As per Mineral County Salary Schedule based on experience and education level
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated
by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Board Policy 5310
and Mineral County Board of Education Policy.
JOB SUMMARY: Provide assistance with direction of the staff
in the areas of curriculum and instruction.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates and shares
in providing leadership and support in developing, implementing and evaluating
curriculum and instruction within general education program areas in Mineral
County Schools;

- Collaborates and shares
in maintaining a system for evaluating and selecting instructional materials
and equipment and supervising an inventory control system;
-
- Collaborates and shares
in planning and coordinating Mineral County Staff Development Program;
-
- Collaborates and shares
in establishing and implementing an improvement process for curriculum and
instruction program areas and the county staff development program;
-
- Collaborates and shares
in employing a program of instructional supervision and personnel management in
curriculum areas and professional support areas;
-
- Collaborates and shares
in establishing good public and employee relations;
-
- Maintains professional
work habits;
-
- Maintains and upgrades
his/her professional skills in order to improve the school program;
-
- Demonstrates
instructional leadership to enhance school effectiveness by improving
instruction and augmenting student performance;
-
- Provides purpose and
direction for schools/county;
-
- Demonstrates cognitive
skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach goals;
-
- Manages group behaviors
to achieve consensus;

- Enhances quality of
total school/county organization;

- Organizes and delegates
to accomplish goals;

- Communicates effectively;

- Provides leadership in
the implementation of technology standards;

- Coordinates county,
regional, and state K-12 student activities;

- Collaborates and shares
in providing vision and leadership of assigned Federal and Special Programs and
ensures management functions are properly carried out in areas of assessment
and planning, grant application and fiscal management, personnel supervision
and management, and program design and management as assigned by the Assistant
Superintendent and/or Director of Curriculum and Instruction;

- Collaborates and shares
in providing leadership, management of operational procedures and support in
developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum and instruction within
PreK-12 curriculum and instructional program areas in Mineral County Schools as
assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and/or Director of Curriculum and
Instruction;

- Coordinates and
maintains a system for evaluating and selecting instructional materials and
equipment and supervising an inventory control system for PreK-12 curriculum
and instruction programs as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and/or
Director of Curriculum and Instruction;

- Collaborates and shares
in establishing and implementing an improvement process for curriculum and
instruction in the PreK-12 program areas and the county staff development
program as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and/or Director of
Curriculum and Instruction;

- Shares in establishing
purpose and direction for PreK-12 curriculum and instruction programs;
-
- Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Mineral County School’s Policy 3210; and
-
- Performs
other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the Superintendent and/or
immediate supervisor(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- West Virginia
professional administrative certificate;
-
- Master’s Degree;
-
- Demonstrates
oral/written communication skills;
-
- Experience in curriculum
planning, implementation and evaluation;
-
- A demonstrated ability
to work effectively with people;
-
- Experience as a
school-based administrator; and
-
- Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.
