JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

POSITION:                                 COMPUTER HARDWARE AND NETWORK TECHNICIAN

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR(S): Director of Technology

 

FLSA/CONTRACT STATUS:     Exempt

 

EMPLOYMENT TERM:              261 Days

 

SALARY:                                    Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, in accordance with Mineral County Salary Scale, Pay Grade H, commensurate with experience and education level.

 

EVALUATION:                           Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314 and Mineral County Board of Education Evaluation Policy.   

 

JOB SUMMARY:                       To assist the Director of Technology in maintaining the technology resources of the county school system.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoots network and operating system problems;
  • Provides technical support to ensure proper upkeep of equipment and network, including maintenance of hardware and local area networks;
  • Installs new software, and installs and maintains Internet software and accounts;
  • Conducts staff training on use of software, hardware, and peripheral equipment;
  • Models the use of technology for teachers;
  • Maintains positive work habits;
  • Performs duties efficiently and productively;
  • Maintains and/or upgrades skills;
  • Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Mineral County School’s Policy 4210; and
  • Performs duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor(s).

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code §18A-2-5;
  • Experience and training with implementation issues involving hardware, software, online access, and networking;
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 50 pounds of materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60 dB).
