JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

POSITION:                                  DIRECTOR OF SUPPORT SERVICES

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:      Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent

 

FLSA/CONTRACT STATUS:     Exempt

 

EMPLOYMENT TERM:              261 Days

 

SALARY:                                    As per Mineral County Salary Schedule based on experience and education.

 

EVALUATION:                           Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Board Policy 5310 and Mineral County Board of Education Policy.

 

JOB SUMMARY:                       Supervises Assistant Director of Support Services: Facilities and Grounds, Assistant Director of Support Services: Transportation, Maintenance employees, including custodial services, and Transportation employees.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides purpose and direction for schools/county;
  • Demonstrates cognitive skills to gather, analyze, and synthesize information to reach goals;
  • Enhances quality of total school/county organization;
  • Organizes and delegates to accomplish goals;
  • Communicates effectively, with employees, parents, students, and the public;
  • Displays leadership and support in all areas of responsibility;
  • Establishes and implements an improvement process for all areas of responsibility;
  • Establishes good public and employee relations in all areas of responsibility;
  • Maintains professional work habits;
  • Maintains and upgrades his/her professional skills;
  • Evaluates personnel under his/her supervision;
  • Provides general supervision of departments of transportation and maintenance, including custodian services;
  • Coordinates efforts to ensure compliance with regulations of local, state and federal regulatory agencies;
  • Assists with coordination of long range facilities planning, including the development and updates of the School Access Safety Plan and Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan;
  • Assists with the development of projects for submission to the West Virginia School Building Authority;
  • Prepares specifications and bid documents as necessary to complete purchases within established procedures;
  • Provides for a thorough and effective transportation system;
  • Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Mineral County School’s Policy 3210; and
  • Performs other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the Superintendent and/or immediate supervisor(s). 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • West Virginia professional certificate;

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office;

  • Knowledge in the areas of safety, transportation, and maintenance;

  • Excellent communication and public relations skills;

  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively with people; and

  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
