JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

POSITION:                                 TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION SPECIALIST

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:      Principal

 

FLSA/CONTRACT STATUS:     Exempt

 

EMPLOYMENT TERM:             Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by the Mineral County Board of Education.

 

SALARY:                                   Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Mineral County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.

 

EVALUATION:                          Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310 and Mineral County Board of Education Evaluation Policy. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:                       Provide appropriate technology instruction and integration.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains knowledge of content area – primary-middle education, 21st Century curriculum/ technology;
  • Maintains knowledge of instructional methods in primary-middle education, 21st Century curriculum/ technology;
  • Recognizes personal and social developmental levels of primary-middle school students;
  • Maintains knowledge, agreement and willingness to support the primary-middle school and 21st Century curriculum/technology programs offered in Mineral County Schools;
  • Possess experience in and ability to assess technology knowledge and skill levels of staff;
  • Possess experience in and ability to identify software, curriculum, teaching strategies and other educational resources available to meet specific school, teacher and student needs;
  • Possess experience in and ability to participate in school strategic planning and grant writing;
  • Possess experience in and ability to develop a technology component to the school’s professional development plan, aligned with the school’s grant proposal and five-year strategic plan;
  • Possess experience in and ability to collaborate/coordinate with teacher to support the use of technology in delivery of curricula through a variety of instructional strategies;
  • Possess experience in and ability to adhere to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources;
  • Possess experience in and ability to model the integration of technology in all curriculum areas;
  • Possess experience in and ability to conduct staff development in the areas of technology integration, the new West Virginia Learning Skills and Technology Tools Content Standards and Objectives (Policy 2520.12), educator technology standards as reflected in West Virginia Policy 5310 Performance Evaluation of School Personnel and various statewide technology resources as well as county/school software applications;
  • Possess experience in and ability to participate in meetings and professional development structured by the WVDE;
  • Possess experience in and ability to participate in professional development in regard to maintaining most current certification;
  • Possess experience in and ability to assess and report progress in student achievement based on accountability measures;
  • Possess experience in and ability to prepare and submit accurate reports in a timely manner as required;
  • Possess teaching experience; classroom management skills and effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Understands fundamental learning theories and methods of instruction blended with knowledge of technology;
  • Possess expertise with strategies for integrating technology into the curriculum such as interactive web activities, online resources, digital portfolios and other forms of classroom assessment as deemed appropriate;
  • Possess experience with the efficient technology strategies for project-based learning (PBL), differentiated instruction (DI), response through intervention (RTI) and backward design;
  • Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Mineral County School’s Policy 3210; and
  • Performs other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the Superintendent and/or immediate supervisor(s).

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specialization and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2;
  • Willing to complete 40 days (320 clock hours) of professional development credit related to technology integration programs offered or approved by the WVDE; and
  • Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60 dB).
