Truancy Prevention Specialist - Addendum

JOB DESCRIPTION -- ADDENDUM

 

 

In addition to the Performance Responsibilities, Qualifications, Physical Demands, and Work Environment contained in the Teacher and/or School Counselor job description, the following are applicable to the Truancy Prevention Specialist:

 

POSITION:       TRUANCY PREVENTION SPECIALIST

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains contact with students as assigned by the Principal and/or Attendance Director/Drop-Out Prevention Specialist in order to support improved attendance;

  • Conducts parent conferences based upon CA2 notices;

  • Performs daily attendance procedures including discrepancies;

  • Utilizes WVEIS and other software to evaluate student attendance;

  • Conducts home visits and other parent/guardian contacts as assigned by the Principal and/or Attendance Director/Drop-Out Prevention Specialist;

  • Maintains records as assigned by the Principal and/or Attendance Director/Drop-Out Prevention Specialist;

  • Contacts community agencies as directed by the Principal and/or Attendance Director/Drop-Out Prevention Specialist for purposes of improving attendance by students;

  • Maintains and upgrades his/her professional work habits and skills;

  • Plans, prepares and implements new programs or facilitates change in the existing program to support improved attendance;

  • Gathers and interprets data for the school;

  • Delivers services to students or others;

  • Collaborates with school personnel and/or parents to coordinate the delivery of services to students or others;

  • Facilitates professional development activities to achieve goals;

  • Develops and improves individual competencies and skills to deliver services;

  • Demonstrates competency in the knowledge and implementation of technology standards;

  • Supports and helps facilitate programming that works toward reducing the drop-out rate and increasing the graduation rate;

  • Supports and promotes special activities in the building that contribute to a positive and comprehensive school experience for the school community;

  • Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Mineral County School’s Policy 3210; and

  • Performs other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the Superintendent and/or immediate supervisor(s).
