PreK/Head Start

Mineral County Pre-K/Head Start is a federally funded program operated by the Office of Head Start and the grantee, Mineral County Board of Education.

This free program services children ages 3 and 4 in school settings determined on eligibility guidelines and the PSTEP'S rating/point system.  This rating system recognizes children/families of significant need, such as receipt of TANF or SSI, Foster Care and homelessness.  The system also identifies children/families eligible up to 130% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines as established by the federal government annually.

Enrollment is ongoing for the current school year with waiting lists maintained for future vacancies in location classrooms throughout the school year.

Submission of an online PSTEP application and the completion of the Face to Face meeting does not guarantee a seat within the classroom.  The eligibility and ranking/point system must be used in all applications received.
